Schwan Super Rink at National Sports Center to host U18 Pre-World Championship Training Camp for USA, Denmark and Finland, April 5-10

Blaine, Minn. (March 24, 2016) – USA Hockey and the National Sports Center announced today that the Schwan Super Rink, on the campus of the National Sports Center in Blaine, Minnesota, will host the training camp for the United States, Finland and Denmark prior to the 2016 IIHF U18 Men’s World Hockey Championship which will be held in Grand Forks, North Dakota.

The training camp will run from April 5-10 and feature practice sessions each day as well as games on April 8 and 10. The practice sessions will be free and open to the public. Admission to the games will be $5 per person, with children 10 and under admitted free.

The World Championship runs April 14-24, in Grand Forks, with the Ralph Engelstad Arena as the prime venue. The ten teams playing in the World Championship are the United States, Canada, Russia, Slovakia, Latvia, Finland, Switzerland, Czech Republic, Sweden and Denmark. “We’re always proud and eager to host international hockey events,” said Super Rink Operations and Programs Director Pete Carlson. “Looking back, we’ve hosted the IIHF Women’s World Championship in 2001 and the 2012 USA vs. Canada U18 Women’s Series. Both were very popular with local hockey fans. When USA Hockey proposed that we host this training camp, we jumped at the opportunity.”
